AN up-and-coming country singer-songwriter will headline the Anderton Boat Lift's Firework Spectacular next weekend.

Kira Mac, 24, will be performing at the family event from 7pm on Saturday, October 26.

Based in Stoke-on-Trent, souther rock singer Kira already regularly supports leading country music artists on tour and has written a critically-acclaimed EP.

She performed on stages such as the O2 in London as well as venues across the country, and is a former student of music at the British Institute of Modern Music in Manchester.

Her EP of original songs, 'Storm on the Horizon' went to number three in the iTunes country music charts.

Kira has played at a number of festivals and has shared the stage with huge UK country music artists such as Gary Quinn and Ward Thomas.

She has also supported Thorne Hill and Nashville-based country artist Caitlin on her UK tour.

Multi award-winning pyrotechnic team Blitz Fireworks from Crewe will be staging the Firework Spectacular.

They are one of the country’s top multi award-winning firework teams and, as in previous years, will be setting off the fireworks from floating pontoons on the River Weaver.

On the night, gates open at 6.30pm and family fun will include a number of exciting fairground rides, such as the spectacular ‘Miami’ as well as some children’s rides.

Freshly prepared food, including burgers, hot dogs and chips will be available on the night and there will be a fully licensed bar in the Lift View Marquee.

Graham Wood, Anderton Boat Lift duty manager said: “The Lift’s musical firework display is a great family event and something really different and special.

"The appeal of the event is partly the way the fireworks reflect magically in the river as they are set off from the pontoons.

"It is also about the way emotions are stirred by the interplay of synchronised music and fireworks in the spectacular setting of the Lift.

"It really is an unforgettable night out for family and friends and a ‘must see’ event.”

Savings can be made for Anderton Boat Lift’s spectacular firework display by booking tickets online at visitcheshire.com/whats-on/box-office.

Special pre-booked tickets cost just £7.50 for adults, £5.50 for children and £22 for a family (two adults plus two children).

All under three-year-olds go free but will still require a ticket. On the night, gate price will be £9.50 for adults, £6.50 for children and £24 for a family ticket.

During the Autumn there are regular boat trips at the Lift.

Visitors can take a journey along the River Weaver to Northwich whilst learning about the town’s industrial heritage or opt for a thrilling trip through the spectacular Boat Lift.

Combined tickets allow visitors to do both of the boat trips above at reduced price.
