THE chair of Warrington North Constituency Labour Party (CLP) has stepped down.
Maureen Banner confirmed she made the decision due to ‘personal family commitments’ and says she has an ‘excellent’ relationship with the party’s Warrington North MP Helen Jones.
She added: “I am looking forward to campaigning for her return to Westminster when the general election is called.
“I have been a Labour Party member for over 40 years.
“I will remain a supporter, retaining my belief in the principles and values of the party.
“I was elected to a different role on the executive committee.”
The CLP says it does not comment on internal party elections.
But a spokesman said: “Maureen Banner has held a number of positions within the Labour Party during the 40 years she has been a member.
“She is, and always has been, held in the highest regard.”
