WILMSLOW business owners Lisa Johnson and Maya Winter were overwhelmed by the support they received at the town’s first sustainable market.

Lisa and Maya own LJ Natural and ENJO UK respectively, and the market at the Rex Cinema in the centre of Wilmslow attracted about 800 people.

Because of the success of the market, which was held in the foyer at the cinema, they are hoping to make it a regular event.

Lisa said: “You can never tell how many people will turn up to these events.

“However the night before we agreed we had done our best to promote it and ensure we had some great stallholders lined up.

“We were serving customers before we’d finished setting up and the odd person when we were packing up.

“All the stallholders were kept very busy the whole time the market was open. It was fantastic, and we estimate about 800 people visited the market.

“We hope this interest continues as we look for some larger venues to host the market and continue to bring more local sustainable businesses onboard.

“We have been gathering feedback from those who visited the market to ensure we make improvements to meet their needs - to leave feedback visit surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BKN7ZJN.”

“In the meantime we have planned a Christmas gift shopping event on Thursday, November 28, at the Unico Lounge on Grove Street from 6pm.

“The focus of this event will be gifts with purpose for those people who choose to give a gift that will be used and is kind to our planet.

“We have some extra stallholders onboard already, and are very excited.”
