BAKERS were ‘overwhelmed’ with support for their annual charity coffee morning, which raised £1,500.

The fundraiser was staged by Knutsford Bake Club as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Macmillan Cancer Support's biggest fundraising event.

Knutsford Guardian:

The coffee morning was held at Spanish restaurant Evuna in King Street, Knutsford, and saw 20 club members baking a selection of treats including chocolate brownies, lemon drizzle cakes, cupcakes and sponge cakes.

The event included a raffle offering more than 60 prizes, and the club also offered a delivery service to Knutsford businesses, taking cakes to about 15 businesses during the day.

Knutsford Guardian:

“We have been doing coffee mornings for Macmillan for three years now, and have been overjoyed with the support we have received,” said Bake Club member Nicola Ansell.

“We raised more than £1,000 last year, and were absolutely overwhelmed this year to raise over £1,500, thanks to everyone’s generosity, for a cause which is close to many people’s hearts.

Knutsford Guardian:

“We would like to thank everyone for their support, especially Evuna, which provided the room free of charge, as well as free tea and coffee, and offered amazing support throughout the event.”

Knutsford Bake Club has about 40 members, and more than 100 people came along to support the event, which ran from 10am to midday. Pictures by Jonathan Farber
