ARMED police are currently searching the Winsford area for a man who is believed to have shot another man in Denbigh Drive last night.

Shortly after 1am on Monday, October 14, police were notified of an altercation involving two men at an address in Denbigh Drive.

Armed officers were deployed to the area and found that one of the men, who had gone to Chiltern Way, had been shot in leg.

The 25-year-old from Winsford, whose injury is not believed to be life-threatening, was taken to hospital.

A search of the area is ongoing in a bid to locate the other man involved in the incident.

Superintendent Alison Ross said: “I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to have been an isolated incident between two men who know each other.

“I would also like to reassure them that there is not believed to be any threat to the wider public and we are doing everything we can to locate the suspect.

“Officers remain in the area and searches are continuing.”
