TYREECE Swinton has given himself a good platform after the first round of the Neville Jones Cross Country League.
Going into round two of the popular event, previously known as the Warrington Athletics Club Schools’ Cross Country League, he holds the lead in the primary schools boys’ series.
This follows his win by 14 seconds in race one at Walton Gardens on Saturday.
The Broomfields Junior School runner navigated the tricky muddy conditions to register a two-lap time of 6mins 53secs, finishing ahead of Euan Flannery from Appleton Thorn Primary School in 7mins 07secs and third-place Isaac McGuffie, also of Broomfields, in 7mins 10secs.
The team event was won by Cherry Tree Primary School on 46 points from Broomfield, 55 points, and Ravenbank Community Primary School on 114 points.
Jack Marwood of Lymm High School dominated the primary race scene previously and continued his victory streak in the year seven boys’ race.
His 10mins 24secs time was 23 seconds better than the next best, with Matt Seddon of Cardinal Newman High School the nearest challenger.
