According to Council Leader Sam Corcoran, Cheshire East now has no suspended executives on full pay. Given the previous track record I expect an announcement to be made on News At Ten.

In the long, incompetent history of CEC we have yet to have a Chief Exec serve out their full contract despite the ridiculous salary paid for a council of their size.

One council leader claimed CEC was ‘reaching for the stars’ in its recruitment policy. In reality the only thing these top executives reached for was the door (usually followed by a generous pay-off).

So this is a truly historic time for taxpayers who footed the bill for all that went before. They will, no doubt be delighted.

Just so we can clear things up, can we have the outcome of the three-year investigation into former leader Michael Jones who was (conveniently) blamed for almost every idiotic blunder that followed his departure.

Not only do residents deserve to know the outcome it’s grossly unfair that Mr Jones should continue to suffer the uncertainty.

It would also be of interest if residents were told the outcome of the other five police investigations into the goings-on at Cheshire East.

Will CEC also reveal who was responsible for the falsified air quality data that enabled development plans to be approved without councillors knowing the true pollution statistics?

Given the specialised nature of this particular inquiry there must have been a very limited number of people with access to do this.

And before we go – just one final request could Leader Corcoran and his council please consign that idiotic phrase ‘suspension is a neutral act’ to the bin. Taxpayers, picking up the bill, thought it was anything but.
