The timeline of events leading up to the murder of Ann-Marie Pomphret:

Monday October 29, 2018

Ann-Marie Pomphret is admitted to Whiston Hospital.

She had previously been receiving treatment for cancer at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Wirral.

The court also heard Ann-Marie had been diagnosed with a number of mental health issues over the years, which the family had ‘lived with for a long time and dealt with’.

Wednesday, October 31

Ann-Marie is discharged from hospital and ‘happy to be back home’.

Friday, November 2

David Pomphret leaves home for work in Knutsford at around 7am, stopping at Tesco Extra on Winwick Road en route.

Ann-Marie and the couple’s teenager daughter Megan also have an early start, visiting their stables shortly after 8am.

They too visit Tesco Extra, before Ann-Marie drops Megan at Priestley College at 9.45am.

The mum attends a gym class at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub that morning, leaving shortly before midday.

David Pomphret leaves work shortly after 1.30pm, later visiting a garage in the Manchester area in the family’s Nissan Qashqai.

Ann-Marie picks Megan up from college at 3pm, and the pair return to the stables at around 5pm.

At 6pm all three go shopping for groceries at Asda in Golborne.

The teenager is dropped at a friend’s house and later makes
arrangements to stay there overnight.

Ann-Marie uses her phone for the final time at 7.38pm, texting Megan a query concerning the horses from the stables.

During this time, David Pomphret claims to be walking the dog and doing DIY.
His phone is used in the area of the stables at 8.06pm – six minutes after he had read a text learning that his daughter was staying over at a friend’s house.

At 8.39pm the Qashqai re-enters the Winwick Park.

In the preceeding hour, David Pomphret murdered his wife.

He alleges that he visited the stables in order to collect some
tools for his DIY, but that his wife became angered as she
had hoped to enjoy a quiet night in – after which he ‘snapped’ and attacked her with a crowbar.

This weapon is then stashed in a pond on the farmland, and is only discovered when police partially-drain the water during subsequent
investigations.

Between 9.02pm and 9.39pm, David Pomphret sends a series of apparently concerned texts to his wife using wifi at the couple’s home.

One reads: “Where are you? All ok?”

Another message says: “Where are you? Getting worried.”

He drives both the Qashqai and his Volvo to the Burtonwood stables.

At 9.47pm he alerts the emergency services – claiming he has discovered his wife’s lifeless body.
