EYE-CATCHING images of Winsford have been captured by local photographers for a Winsford 2020 calendar.

The project wouldn't have been possible without support from the town's businesses and organisations.

“Twelve sponsors have helped fund the costs of producing the calendar, which is also supported by Winsford Town Council,” said John Malam, chairman of the Friends of Winsford Town Park.

"We couldn’t have done it without them and we are grateful to them all for their support."

Gill Pennington, of Compass Minerals, said: “Compass Minerals, based at the Winsford Rock Salt Mine, and DeepStore, the underground storage facility at the mine, have a strong commitment to supporting the local community.

"We are proud to be involved with the Friends of Winsford Town Park and Winsford Town Council through our sponsorship of the Winsford 2020 Calendar.”

The companies have sponsored the months of July and December.

Taylors Optometrists, Essential Cuisine, Technoprint, Fowles Funeral Services, The Old Star, Foodcraft, Cliff Dickenson & Son, Warrington & Vale Royal College, Winsford Education Partnership and Over Allotments Association have sponsored other months.

All the sponsors received a free copy of the calendar.

Cllr Julie Savage, chairman of the Town Park steering group, said: “Winsford Town Council is delighted to be working in partnership with the Friends in the production of the calendar. Not only does it showcase the town park but each month shows a stunning image of Winsford throughout the year.”

Judges faced a daunting task through more than 250 submitted photographs in their search for 12 images.

Photographs by local photographers Colleen Ashley, Alan Bailey, Chris Brennan, Terry Hamlett, Lisa Lacking, Donna Maria Long and Paul Moses were chosen.

John added: "The calendar is very much a local initiative. It’s a community project with striking photos of Winsford at its best taken by local photographers and it’s been designed here in Winsford by the NeuroMuscular Centre’s Design and Print Team.

“We’ve had 1,000 copies printed and we’re expecting it to sell out in the runup to Christmas,” said John. “It’ll be available at local events, and the Friends will also be setting up tables in the town library and hopefully in-store at Asda and Morrisons. All profits from the sale of the calendar will be used by the Friends for the benefit of Winsford Town Park.”

The calendars will be on sale at Winsford Library on Saturday.

Orders can be made by email to hello@fowtp.co.uk or by calling John on 01606 863540. Calendars are priced at £5 each or two for £8.
