THIS is a wonderful sight to behold for anybody who knows the Jones family.

Dad Nick is back running for Warrington Athletics Club with his son Jordan and daughter Jasmine.

It is something they have always enjoyed doing together.

But these past few months have been very worrying.

Nick has been seriously ill in hospital.

He is currently undergoing very aggressive chemotherapy treatment but life's journey continues to take him back to the sport that he loves.

The Grappenhall family took up the challenge of Knowsley Harriers' monthly Willowbrook Halewood 5K race at the weekend.

For Nick, it was his first race since April when he won the silver medal in the over 40s age group of the British Masters 10K Championships.

He has a fastest time for the course he ran on Saturday of 15mins 50secs and this time, now as an over 45, he finished in 43rd place overall in 25mins 55secs which earned him sixth spot in the age group.

It is a performance he is delighted with, but just being back out there will mean even more to him.

Jordan was not only the first under 17s runner to finish he won the race overall in 16mins 33secs, while Jasmine clocked 20mins 38secs to finish 24th but the third female, first under the age 17 even though she is only 14.

This means Jasmine has improved her time for the distance in the last year by almost seven minutes.

A very special day for the Joneses.
