THE local community came together ‘brilliantly’ to ensure that a pamper party for former Thomas Cook staff was a ‘fantastic success’.

That is the view of the event organiser Rebecca Collins, of The Beauty Spot in Northwich.

She decided to organise the party at very short notice, offering a number of free treatments to staff who had lost their jobs in Northwich, Winsford and Knutsford.

And after being overwhelmed by the number of staff who wished to attend, the whole community came together to find a venue and donate a range of treatments, raffle prizes, food and fizz.

“The day was fantastic and even more successful than I thought it would be,” said Rebecca.

“Staff didn’t have the chance to say goodbye to each other, so there were lots of hugs and tears, but it turned out to be a really positive event.

“Everyone has handled the terrible situation with such dignity and grace and so my team and I were more than happy to look after them during this difficult time.

“Thank you to each and every person who helped to make the event possible and we would like to wish all former Thomas Cook employees all the best for the future.”

Winsford Guardian:

At the pamper party, employees were treated to free yoga sessions, massages, nail and eyelash treatments and much more.

Everything was donated by local people and businesses, who wanted to do something to support staff during what is a stressful and worrying time.

“A lot of the staff have worked for the company for a long time and, having been in that position myself, I wanted to do something to treat them,” Rebecca continued.

“Before I knew it, I was receiving messages from former Thomas Cook employees from across Cheshire.

“I couldn’t say no to any of them but there was no way I would have been able to help everyone, so to see the way that community came together was absolutely brilliant.

“My heart goes out to all the staff and I hope that the event that we put on helped to brighten their day just a little bit.

“Thank you to each and every person who helped make the pamper day possible - we helped to make a lot of people smile after a dark and unexpected week.”
