A MAN who was made redundant from Thomas Cook has thanked a kind-hearted mechanic who fixed his car for free.

Alistair Powell worked at the travel company for three years, after moving from Monarch Airlines which closed in October 2017.

He said: "My car had a problem and was basically useless but I managed to limp it to the The Ace of Hearts garage in Great Sankey.

"I explained my situation regarding Thomas Cook and that I needed the car as soon as possible for job fairs and interviews.

"Not only did Kev fix it there and then he refused to accept payment too.

"Little things like that can change your day in a second.

"It made a big difference to my life."
