WETHERSPOONS fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the Friar Penketh has confirmed it is no longer for sale.

The town centre pub, which employs 37 staff, was put up for sale in March.

Pub manager Jimmy Quinn was appointed in December to help the business grow and is delighted at the news.

He said: "There are quite a few pubs across town closing down which is sad, we have a lot of happy customers now.

"Everyone has worked really hard to increase sales and its has meant the pub has been taken off the market.

"We are all over the moon."
