POLICE are appeal for witnesses of a crash which killed a 56-year-old woman on the M56 by Stretton on Thursday.
At around 5.20pm, emergency services responded to the serious road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway, between junctions 10 for Stretton and 9 for the Lymm interchange.
The incident involved several cars and a HGV.
Sadly, a 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 62-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A further five people sustained minor injuries.
The carriageway was shut for 12 hours while emergency services worked at the scene.
The road was fully re-opened shortly before 5am on Friday.
