THE rarest 50p coin ever has just been put into circulation - and at least 10 of them are in Brighton.

The people behind the PR stunt say they are putting 400 originally non-released Peter Rabbit 2019 50p's go into general circulation all over the UK giving the general public a chance to get their hands on one.

And videos released by coin collecting website The Great British Coin Hunt claim ten have been released into circulation in Brighton.

The coins are being put into places like parking meters and vending machines to give collectors and members of the public the chance to pick them up, and anyone who finds one could have found themselves a small fortune.

Ian Lambert who owns The Great British Coin Hunt has released the first 20 locations of where the coins have been put into circulation.

Ian said he was inspired to release the coins after friend was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

He said: "We set a household limit in the spirit of fairness to help ensure that as many Peter Rabbit fans and collectors have the opportunity to receive a coin as possible without being too restrictive or encouraging multiple purchases.

"The Peter Rabbit 2019 coin is a commemorative only coin.

"These will not be entering general circulation."
