ACTON Swing Bridge is set to close later this month for two days while repair work is completed.

The closure of the A49 Warrington Road will take place from Saturday, September 28 and remain in force the following day.

No traffic travelling in either direction will be able to use the crossing over the River Weaver between Acton Bridge and Bartington.

This is to allow the Canal and River Trust carry out the replacement of wearing course to bridge deck.

A diversion will be in place that sees traffic continue on the A559 Northwich Road to Lostock Gralam and then turn onto the A556.

Motorists will be able to re-join the A49 at the crossroads near to Blakemere Village.

A public notice issued by Cheshire West and Chester Council states: “The closure will come into force on Saturday, September 28 and will be in force for a maximum of five days.

“It is anticipated that the work will last for approximately 2 days.”
