CHILDREN are celebrating at a Winsford school after gaining a prestigious national accolade.

Grange Community Nursery and Primary School is delighted to have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for 2018/19.

The School Games Mark is a government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

The school on Brindley Avenue is overjoyed to be recognised for their success.

Through endless dedication to the improvement of sports and PE, the school says pupils have benefitted from consistently high quality teaching and inspiring enrichment opportunities.

Children have taken part in a run for fun, a daily Golden Mile, judo sessions, gymnastics and active breaks within learning.

Head of School Sara Albiston said: "We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport and can't wait to continue progressing our PE provision, extra-curricular opportunities and involvement in competitive sports over the next academic year.

"We look forward to even more achievements!"
