CREATIVE students at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School are celebrating success in the first Holmes Chapel Youth Council poster competition.
The aim of the contest was to raise awareness for environmental issues such as global warming and spread the word on damage to the planet.
Many of the posters focused on the impact of the issues on wildlife and endangered animals.
The winners and runners-up were chosen with the support of councillor Mike Street.
David Nawrocki won the individual category, with Megan Barker and Elyned Young runners-up.
The team category winners were Melissa Head, Freya Richmond-Guy, Elena Kilby and Lauren Mac, with the runners-up being Meris O’ Donoghue, Evie Bostok, Eliza Barrett, Lucinda Columbine-Corlett and Emma Cooper.
The students were due to receive their awards this week at a meeting of the youth council meeting.
Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School was delighted to welcome Police family liaison officer Dave Edon with a delivery of pebbles for the school’s Garden of Memories from the Manchester Resilience Hub.
The Hub was set up by the NHS to support the emotional well-being and mental health of those affected by the Manchester Arena attack.
Over the past year the Hub has held a number of workshops in Manchester and the north of England for families impacted by the attack.
At the last few events young people and their parents and carers have been painting rocks, and young people asked if their rocks could be placed in the Garden of Memories.
