LAUGHTER and squeals of delight filled the air as children enjoyed a family fun day.

British Salt hosted the event at their Middlewich grounds to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary.

Staff from Tata Chemicals Europe in Middlewich, Lostock and Winnington joined in the fun with their families.

Wellie wanging, slime making, a bucking bronco and inflatable football darts gave children plenty of challenges to tackle.

Staff at Tata Chemicals Europe celebrated British Salt’s 50th anniversary year with a fabulous Family Fun Day held at the company’s Middlewich location.

British Salt’s 50th anniversary celebrations have included a royal visit in June from the Duke of Kent who officially launched the company’s Salt’s new £600,000 high speed, automated pack line.

A coffee morning was attended by more than 60 retired British Salt employees - several of whom worked on the site in 1969 at its launch.

Acquired by Tata Chemicals Europe in 2011, the business has invested £25 million in future-proofing improvements to the Middlewich site since 2015.

The high-speed pack line is the latest project to be completed. Earlier this year, the company also unveiled a £7.2 million investment in a new, best-in-class energy efficient boiler plant, designed to generate heat and electricity for the company’s 24-hour production process.

The new British Salt boiler plant represents the largest single investment in the company since its inception. Scheduled to become operational in March 2020, it will be key to the success of a secure energy supply for British Salt.
