A LATCHFORD-based takeaway has scooped the Chef of the Year prize for Cheshire at the National Curry Awards.

Abdul Malik, chef of Bhaji Fresh in Knutsford Road, has been integral in placing the curry house firmly on the map as one of the go-to takeaways in the area.

Bhaji Fresh offers a wide selection of Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine, freshly cooked to order allowing the chef to adjust the heat of each dish to the customer’s preferred taste.

One customer commented: "Mouthwatering and delicious dishes that surpass any other.

"Nothing is too much of a problem and the chef will conjure up a sublime meal to meet your requirements."

Another said: "Abi’s food is amongst the best I have eaten.

"He takes pride in the meals he creates and it is always a pleasure to eat.

"He gets to know all his customers and their tastes and adjusts his food to that taste.

"The spices are just right, the meat in the food is so tender and it is a pleasure to eat."

Bhaji Fresh prides itself on being able to cater for everyone, from meat eaters to vegetarians and vegans, and has been a hit with customers since it opened in 2011.

The takeaway won an English Curry Award in 2017 and was announced North West Takeaway Of The Year after receiving praise from customers for the quality of the food.

The National Curry Awards was hosted in the House of Lords earlier this week, attended by politicians, celebrities, staff and restaurant owners from across the country.

Winners ranged from long-established family businesses to more recently launched ventures.
