THE headteacher of a Lostock Gralam boy who tragically died after falling from a Spanish balcony has paid tribute to a 'remarkable young man'.

Twelve-year-old Lucas Briscoe, who was weeks away from starting his Year 8 studies at St Nicholas Catholic High School, died on Tuesday on the final day of a holiday with his mum in Fuengirola.

St Nicholas headteacher Richard Woods says the school community will remember Lucas as a boy of many talents.

Mr Woods said: "All of us at St Nicholas are devastated at the news of Lucas’ sudden death whilst on holiday in Spain.

"Lucas was a remarkable young man – full of talent, good humour, determination, compassion and care for his fellow students.
