ROADWORKS are set to cause delays in the town heading into September.

United Utilities will be carrying out works in Lewin Street until August 22 which es expected to cause delays.

Work by Scottish Power to excavate a footway will cause delays in Wheelock Street on August 22.

On August 29 works will be carried out in St Michael’s Way.

There will be roadworks conducted by United Utilities in St Ann’s Road from August 30 until September 3.

United Utilities will also be working in Sutton Lane from August 29 to September 2 but this is not expected to cause major delays.

There is still no confirmation regarding the dates of resurfacing work to Croxton Lane and Lewin Street.

A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council said: “Following the recent unanticipated significant flooding, we are prioritising reactive and recovery work to keep the network safe.

“This has impacted on timings for other highways areas and programmed work, while we progress with emergency work.

“We will update the roadworks section of the council’s website, at cheshireeast.gov.uk/highways, once we have confirmed dates for the works that have been programmed.

“We would like to apologise for the delay but, on this occasion, it has been caused by circumstances outside the council’s control.”
