Knutsford students congratulated on their A level results

The praise comes from headteacher James Whittaker following news of the A level results for Academy students.

Mr Whittaker said: “We are absolutely delighted with these results, which underline the consistently high levels of achievement secured by students in the Academy over the last few years.

“We are especially pleased with these outcomes in the light of the new, more demanding and reformed linear A Levels.

“Students and teachers must be congratulated on their hard work and commitment.

“Against a national backdrop of a fall in top grades, 10 per cent of grades at the Academy were at A* compared with 7.7 per cent nationally. 84 per cent of grades were A*- C, and there was a 99 per cent pass rate overall."

Adam gained his A*s in further maths, physics, chemistry and an EPQ, to add to A*s at A level in maths and computer science he sat two years ago and last year respectively.

"I found all the subjects I sat really interesting, so it makes it easier to sit down and grind through hours of looking at books," he said.

"I only chose to take subjects I knew I was really interested in. I'm an independent learner, and the school gave me a lot of support."

Proud mum Jennie said: "I'm just over the moon, and keep bursting into tears.

"Adam is absolutely passionate about maths, and we have gone on holiday in the past, and have said pack some books to read - Anthony Horowitz or something - and it has been first year degree maths books."
