A FAMILY-RUN firm in Weaverham is celebrating 30 years of being a part of the community this week.

Barry Starnes, owner of Weaverham Hardware in Lime Avenue, opened his shop in 1989 and has been a key part of the village ever since.

“There have been many changes since 1989,” Barry said. “Many customers went to the shop as children, and still come in with families of their own.”

Barry has extended the shop over the years and expanded into the former cake shop next door.

He has a loyal and long-serving workforce managed by his daughter Emma and her fiancé Graham Egerton. Barry’s wife Jan, along with David Collins, Paul Joynson, Lesley Johnson and Matthew Dickenson, make up the rest of the team.

Having been running for 30 years from last Saturday, Barry will be offering discounts of 30 per cent and offering freebies to celebrate over the next 10 days, until Saturday, August 24.

Barry added: “I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all our customers for their loyal support over the years.

“It has been a pleasure to serve you and I know from all the lovely reviews we get that you appreciate us as much as we appreciate you.

“If you haven’t visited us already, give yourself a treat and come and see us on Lime Avenue, next to the Post Office. We are frequently described as an Aladdin’s Cave of products and there is something for everyone.”

The store also sells pet food and bird food and services include key cutting and watch battery fitting.
