RUDHEATH ended the run of holders Hazel Pear when the Cheshire County Bowling Association's Norman Cup reached the semi-finals stage.

Both teams returned five winning cards at The Limes in Sandbach but triumphs to single figures for Steve Brittleton (21-6) and Jimmy Taylor (21-4) helped their side to prevail by a 21-chalk margin on aggregate.

The Acton Bridge outfit, victors in the final last season, established early control when they won the first three blocks.

However they were soon reeled in by their Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association rivals who took four of the next five head-to-heads.

Taylor was last on the green against Rob Pace as momentum swung back towards Rudheath.

They will take on Lloyd Hotel later this month after the favourites dashed the hopes of underdogs Lostock Graylams at Goostrey.

The Chorlton-based side had to overturn a 70-chalks handicap deficit against the Northwich outfit, but did exactly that on their way to scoring a full house.

Darren Fallows and Mark Woodyatt were the pick of Lostock's performers in a 210-168 reverse.

The final is fixed for Saturday, August 31.
