AN independent investigator has been appointed to compile a report into the crowd trouble during Saturday's Super League clash between Catalans Dragons and Warrington Wolves.

The RFL says the probe will review evidence from a range of sources, including video evidence obtained from broadcasters inside the ground in Perpignan and posted online.

While the investigation is now under way, the Warrington Guardian understands it is highly unlikely it will be published until after the Challenge Cup Final at the end of the month.

Salford were hit with a fine for fighting which broke out in the away end in their match at Huddersfield Giants in 2016.

While Hull KR were fined £25,000  - £20,000 of which was suspended - for trouble after the Million Pound game loss to Salford in that same season.

Wolves issued a plea for supporters to send them relevant evidence yesterday, Monday.

And Five Catalans players including Sam Tomkins and Michael McIlorum were banned by the RFl's match review panel yesterday as was Warrington's Tom Lineham

Dragons’ Kenny Edwards faces an independent RFL tribunal hearing tonight, Tuesday, for allegedly inciting the crowd during the off-field events.

According to RFL rules, any action against individual supporters identified of being involved in trouble would be taken by the club.

The RFL will be examining if Catalans or Wolves broke its own rules of operations.
