RESIDENTS in Cuddington were overjoyed this week as the bus service which was taken away from them 10 years ago was finally restored.

The service was removed from Delamere Park and Eden Grange in Cuddington, due to lack of use according to the service provider, and since then residents have campaigned tirelessly via a hardworking residents group, aptly named the ‘bus committee’, to have the service restored.

The 9.31am service to Frodsham was a few minutes late on its first day back on the job on Wednesday, but residents didn’t seem to mind too much and were delighted to have the service restored.

Initially the service to Frodsham will only be available on a Wednesday, however it is hoped that this will increase.

Northwich Guardian:

Among the passengers for the inaugural journey was Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Weaver and Cuddington ward councillor Gillian Edwards.

Cllr Edwards said: “It’s a huge honour to be on the first bus journey. I am delighted that both Delamere Park and Eden Grange now have a bus service, a huge well done to the residents group who have worked so hard to ensure that this happened.

“Developments such as Delamere Park and Eden Grange can be socially isolating for residents who are unable to drive and so this really is a lifeline and I’m hoping that we will be able to expand the service to include additional days and destinations.

“Furthermore Cheshire West and Chester Council has just announced a Climate Change Emergency and as a member of the task group I am thrilled that bus services within remote areas will enable residents to leave their cars at home. Once again well done to everyone involved.”
