WARRINGTON Wolves fans heading to the Challenge Cup final during August bank holiday will be able to travel by train.

Engineering works near London Euston last year meant train travel was impossible for the final against Catalans Dragons.

Work will again take place near to Milton Keynes this year and journeys will take longer.

But Virgin Trains will be operating two services an hour in each direction between Warrington Bank Quay and London Euston.

The last service to Warrington from the capital on game day, August 24, will depart Euston at 8.31pm.

A Virgin Trains spokesperson said: “As Network Rail carry out vital upgrades on the West Coast Main Line during the August Bank Holiday weekend our services are expected to be busier than normal and journeys will take longer.

“We strongly recommend you make a reservation, plan your journey in advance and check the National Rail Enquiries and Virgin Trains websites before travelling.”

Meanwhile there are some charter services heading from Bank Quay to the game and returning north afterwards, stopping at Wembley.
