MEMBERS of the community have brightened up another area of Northwich as part of this year’s North West in Bloom Awards.

The community project, which was undertaken by the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID), volunteers from Grozone Community Garden and Northwich Town Council (NTC), has seen flowers planted in St Paul’s Square.

Located just off Witton Street between Northwich Art Shop and Lean Body Kitchen, the square has sensory elements such as long grasses and eye-catching colours across a range of raised bed planters.

The project follows another initiative which was delivered by the Northwich BID earlier this summer under the theme of greener and cleaner, where they worked with partners to tidy up an area of land between Sainsbury’s car park and Barons Quay.

Northwich BID manager Jane Hough is pleased with the outcome of the community planting session and hopes people enjoy using the park over the coming months.

Jane said: “It’s great to see the community working together once again to deliver another positive outcome in Northwich town centre.

“Over the last few years we have loved teaming up with Northwich Town Council and other partners on planting and clean-up projects and this is another instance of partnership working at its finest. The volunteers from Grozone did an absolutely fabulous job on the day and I cannot thank them enough.

“This revamped garden in St Paul’s Square adds another element to Northwich’s floral offering and hopefully visitors to the town will enjoy relaxing in it on nice days. It’s ideal for taking a break from shopping or work to chill out for a few minutes and I’m sure plenty of people will take advantage of it."
