READERS have been reacting to the news that a community midwifery service contracted to provide care on the NHS is set to go into administration.

One to One Midwives is expected to go into receivership at 5pm tomorrow, Wednesday.

More than 4,500 women in the north west currently receive pregnancy advice from the company’s midwives, including many in Warrington.

Warrington Guardian readers were quick to praise the 'invaluable' and 'fantastic' midwives.

Lisa Ruth, said: "Shocking news. Due to a terrible midwife service from my GP surgery I switched to One to One and had a fabulous experience. All the staff I dealt with were wonderful when I had my first child. Really sorry to hear this news for the women in Warrington."

Niamh Graham added: "Such a wonderful service. Our midwife Rachel has been fantastic and we will miss her. There is no comparison between one to one and the usual service. They are a very special group of midwives. A great loss to women and babies."

Warrington Guardian:

The firm was based on Sankey Street

Angela Avalos-Perez added: "Brilliant service I was made so comfortable having my first baby and everyone I met there was so polite and professional I couldn’t fault them. It’s such a shame."

Amy Thompson said: "Gutted. We had the best experience with this team and it’s a service that will be greatly missed by the women of Warrington. Really sad."

However, some shared their negative experiences with the service.

Lucy Cox said: "I can’t say I had a good experience with them, used them with my first baby caused me nothing but stress. The only thing my midwife was interested in was getting me to have a home birth! Pushed me for weeks, when she knew I didn’t feel comfortable with it so I went back to Warrington Hospital."

Natalie Gibbons said: "I transferred my care away from One to One at 27 weeks pregnant.

"I think they took on too many women and couldn't give proper care because or this."

One to One had won a contract to provide community midwifery services on behalf of NHS Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group in 2016.

The pregnancy advice centre on Sankey Street in the town centre closed recently, with staff having been relocated to offices on Bankside – off Crosfield Street.
