HALTON Borough Council says it has been ‘in contact’ with the Daresbury Park Hotel top discuss their pest control measures.

This comes after the Warrington Guardian revealed that one guest received almost 300 bite marks from bed bugs during their recent stay.

Britannia, which runs the hotel, said in response that although it was ‘disappointed’ to hear of the guest’s experience, they had investigated the incident and offered a refund.

Halton council has now received a complaint from a member of the public about the hotel and although the council has no powers to investigate, it says it has been in contact to discuss the situation.

“Bed bugs are not known to spread diseases and, while their bites can be unpleasant, they are not considered a public health pest.

“Therefore, the council does not have any public health powers to investigate.

“However, the council’s environmental health department has been in contact with the hotel management to discuss the complaint and ensure adequate pest control arrangements are in place.”
