A DAD has slammed the Daresbury Park Hotel and Spa after his daughter was 'riddled' with almost 300 bed bug bites.

Brendan Simpson, a former Great Sankey resident, stayed at the hotel with his family for two nights while attending a funeral in the town.

But he said that the four-star hotel ‘gives Warrington an awful name’ and branded it as a ‘disgrace’.

“My daughter is riddled with 295 bed bug bites at the last count and has needed medical intervention, meaning she cannot leave the house,” he said.

“The hotel rooms were only slightly clean, as the curtains and chairs were dirty and stained.

“As well as this, the hotel had a large number of kids staying there at the same time as us and they were running around, swearing and shouting all night.”

Brendan said that he complained about his stay and was promised a reply from the rooms manager the same day but did not receive one.

He did receive a reply from the general manager a day later offering him a refund for his daughters’ room which had since been ‘treated’, but not for his other two rooms which Brendan said also had problems and bugs.

“We lived in Warrington in 2003 and at that point, the Daresbury was quite a good hotel which is why we booked it,” he added.

“Now however, it is an appalling and cheap hotel which takes in huge parties of rowdy kids.

“I want to highlight the type of practise at this hotel which is a disgrace and gives Warrington an awful name.”

In response, a spokesperson for Britannia, which owns the Daresbury Park Hotel said: "It is disappointing to hear that some of our guests have had the experience described.

"Having investigated this complaint, the guest in question received a full refund for their room.

"We have listened to our guest’s comments and we have taken them seriously.

"Going forward we will continue to focus on customer satisfaction."
