JOOLS Holland is to headline an open air music celebration at Walton Hall and Gardens this Saturday.

The renowned pianist and bandleader will be bringing his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and special guests as part of a special one-off concert in partnership with Culture Warrington.

If you have got tickets or are tempted to pick some up here's what you can expect.

Who is performing?

Jools will be joined by Pauline Black and Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson from The Selecter, together with guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall.

Warrington's own Concert Signers will even be joining the big band to provide a sign language interpretation for one of the songs and raise deaf awareness.

Jeanette Hughes said: "We are honoured to be signing for the second time with the incredible Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra at the beautiful Walton Hall and Gardens.

"Last year we had the pleasure of signing with Jools at the Manchester Apollo signing Joy of Love with the amazing Louise Marshall. This time we are signing a different song with Jools and Louise. We are so happy to be performing in our home town."

Supporting Jools is an Irish songwriter, musician and producer Jack Lukeman.

What can be expected?

Jools said: “We’ve got a whole big band, which is unusual, it’s not just like a horn section – it’s a whole five saxophones, three trombones, three trumpets, organ, singers and all of that. Drums, guitar, bass, led by the piano.

"And that is the same configuration that people like Count Basie or Duke Ellington would have had. It’s a very dynamic configuration. As well as playing our own modern things, we’ve got things from the past just boogied up a little bit more, like Lionel Hampton stuff or ska music that kind of gets you wanting to dance, and I think it sounds magnified by putting it through a big band, which outside is just even better."

What are the stage times?

Gates open at 6pm. Jack Lukeman will take to the stage between 7.30pm and 7.55pm and Jools' set starts at around 8.15pm.

Where is the concert taking place?

The show will be on the main lawn adjacent to the conservatories – where Disability Awareness Day takes place.

Are there different parking arrangements?

No, parking will be in the normal car park but when that fills up there is an overspill which is directly adjacent to the main car park. Normal car parking fees apply.

What's the weather expected to be like?

Sunny with a chance of showers. The temperature is expected to be around 20C when the gates open and about 16C by the time the show ends.

Will food and drink be available?

There will be a bar selling wine, beer , Prosecco , Pimms , gin , vodka, water, soft drinks, tea, coffee and hot chocolate as well as a variety of food kiosks selling 'posh hot dogs', vegan dogs, fries, loaded fries, boneless chicken pieces, pancakes, crisps and chocolate. You are not allowed to bring your own food and drink onto the site.

How much are tickets and where can you get them?

Tickets are £50 plus booking fees. Visit warrington.gov.uk/joolsholland or culturewarrington.org or call the box office on 442345. You can also buy them on the gate.
