CROWDS gathered this weekend for the second Fiesta in the Field event and it has been hailed as a great success by the organiser.

The 'Fiesta on the Field Goes All Out' event was held last weekend in the Middlewich Cricket Club and proved to be a great success for the cricket club and enjoyed by very large audiences over both days.

The weekend featured live music, a beer festival and an outdoor cinema.

Dave Parry, chairman of the cricket club, said: “The highlight was definitely the Beer and Music Festival on Saturday evening which attracted a large number of appreciative revellers. “

“Sunday was slightly more sedate but again plenty of local people enjoyed the matinee performance of Disney's new 'Dumbo' followed by the evening showing of the hugely enjoyable 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. “

The event has been used to help raise money for the club and once again, it has been very successful.

Dave said: “We are still making the assessment but it looks like due to the very hard work of club members backed by very generous sponsorship from numerous local businesses, plus fantastic support from the Middlewich 5K Team, we will have raised invaluable funds to be ploughed back into the upkeep and maintenance of the clubhouse and ground, supporting junior and senior cricket.

“As Chairman I was proud of the way the club pulled together such a marvellous and enjoyable event. It certainly looked like everyone thoroughly enjoyed the occasion in glorious summer weather.

“Needless to say we also greatly enjoyed the Cricket World Cup Final result."
