AN ambassador for the Body Shop has been named as one of four out of more than 15,000 applicants to go to Ghana.

Nikki Donovan, 39, is set to fly there in September to see how Shea Butter is made and to find out how the community trade project is benefitting workers in the country.

Nikki, from Darlington Street, said: “I applied and I was always confident that I would be selected. I really believe that having a positive attitude is so important if you want to succeed at anything. If you don’t believe you can do something what is the point in trying.”

Nikki was selected as Community Trade Ambassador for the region out of 300 consultants.

Out of all the applicants 48 were selected and had to meet specific criteria in to qualify

After posting about this on Facebook, Nikki was able to meet the criteria which was to sell 50 tubs of shea butter and this got her through to the final stage of 25, before the final four were selected.

Nikki said: “After posting that appeal it only took a few hours for me to be able to sell what I needed to. The support from the community really does mean a lot as I couldn’t have done this without them.”

Nikki will fly to Ghana on Tuesday, September 10 and will be returning on Monday, September 16.
