KNUTSFORD shopkeepers are being urged to ensure they secure their premises after a thief stole personal belongings from the staff room of two businesses on Saturday.

The thefts follow a similar incident at the end of last month, in which car keys and a car were stolen.

PCSO Chris Pountain delivered leaflets to shops in the town on Sunday alerting retailers to the incidents and urging them to secure their premises.

“An unknown male entered the staff room of two local businesses on Saturday and stole personal belongings,” said PCSO Pountain.

“Access has been gained through an insecure rear access door while staff have been busy on the shop floor.

“There was also another incident on this kind on June 23; however in this case car keys were also taken and subsequently a car.”

The officer is urging shopkeepers to consider securing all access doors, provide secure lockers for staff belongings and installing CCTV above all access points.

Shops are being urged to contact the police by calling 101 if they see anything suspicious.
