MAGISTRATES heard how a Barnton woman stole a bottle vodka from Northwich Asda did so because she was struggling with alcohol addiction.
Vicky Jones, of Cedar Drive, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to theft, after stealing the spirit from the Barons Quay supermarket last month.
The court heard that Jones decided to steal the vodka after first trying to pay but ran into issues with her bank card at the store.
She was given a six-month conditional discharge, meaning if she reoffends, she will then also be sentenced for the theft last month.
Chair Magistrate, Mr Paul Storrer, said: “It was not a good decision of yours so we’re going to punish you by way of conditional discharge for six months.”
She will also have to repay Asda and pay court costs all totalling £115.50.
