A MAN has been charged after a fraudster posing as a police officer targeted residents in the town.
Cheshire Police have this week received numerous reports of homeowners in Warrington receiving phone calls claiming to be from officers.
The caller is alleged to have stated that the force had a warrant for the victims’ arrests and that they would be held unless they made a payment.
Stephen Davey, 49, has now been charged with five counts of fraud, impersonating a police officers and two charges of making malicious communications in connection with the incidents.
He is due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court today, Friday, to face these charges.
