A MILKMAN was rescued from his float after a crash with a lorry in the early hours of this morning.
The milk float and HGV were involved in an accident on Farrell Street shortly after 1am today, Friday.
One fire engine was called to the scene, with a man being trapped in the milk float.
He was freed from the vehicle, with a quantity of milk having also spilt onto the road.
The milkman was handed into the care of paramedics, but did not require hospital treatment.
Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the area by the North West Ambulance Service.

Firefighters spent 15 minutes at the scene before handing the incident over to police.
