ELEVEN Cheshire pubs have been named in the AA Pub Guide 2020, among the best pubs in across the UK, chosen by AA's expert inspectors.

All eleven of the Cheshire pubs featured in the guide as 'Pick of the Pubs' entries, represent the best pubs chosen by AA's expert inspectors, editorial team and from reader suggestions.

The Bull's Head

Home to the humble beginnings of the Umbro sportswear brand, The Bull's Head in Mobberley was originally owned by the parents of Harold Humphrey, co-founder of the now international sportswear brand started in the back room in 1922 as trading out of a cupboard, and today the pub offers two car clubs, home cooked food, event nights and cask ales sourced from local breweries.

Just up the road from the Bull's Head is the Church Inn originally named the Bull's Head too in 1753, eventually being renamed the church inn after over two centuries and today hosts a 4 mile walk around the village, private dining rooms and regular events.

The Bear's Paw

The Bear's Paw in Warmingham suffered a devastating Electrical fire in May 2008 but after a £2.5 million investment was completely rebuilt and reopened after 12 months, now offering ales from local micro breweries.

The Swetthenham Arms

The Swetthenham Arms in Swettenham used to be a nunnery in the 16th century and the ghost of a nun was reported to have been sighted in 2005, but now offers afternoon tea, a gluten free menu and classic car Tuesdays.

The Cholmondeley Arms

The Cholmondeley Arms is adjacent to Cholmondeley Castle and was previously a Victorian schoolhouse operating as far back as 1862 before being converted in 1988 and now offering warm, inviting decor and over 300 gins.

The Pheasant Inn

The Pheasant Inn in Burwardsley is over three centuries old and has been a licensed Ale house ever since, boasting freshly cooked food that has been rewarded with an AA rosette.

Also named in the guide as 'Pick of the Pubs' are the Grosvenor Arms of Aldford, The Bhurtpore Inn in Aston, The Dog Inn of Knutsford, The Fishpool Inn in Delamere and the Dysart Arms of Bunbury.
