A NEW judo club sent 10 pupils under eight to compete in their first tournament and all of them finished with a medal.

Evade Martial Arts set up Middlewich’s first Judo club in the United Reformed Church, in Queen Street, in April 2018.

The club is run by Sensei Jared Jack, 30, who is delighted to with the progress his pupils have made.

Jared said: “It was a fantastic day for the kids. The SSK tournaments are held in Warrington twice a year and the coaches there are absolutely brilliant and it was just a really good experience for my pupils.

“The kids all get at least 30 seconds to fight without any points being scored which made it a fantastic learning experience for them.

“Of the 10 who competed all 10 placed with a medal.”

Jared is experienced in Martial Arts and could not wait to get involved in a club when he moved to Middlewich five years ago.

He said: “I have been involved with Judo now for 24 years. I started in South Africa, where I am from and I moved here five years ago.

“I used to compete internationally for South Africa and now I want to give something back.”
