THE Golden Gates were lifted out on a crane today as the finishing touches were made after its £500,000 restoration.
Work to repair the iconic structure has been ongoing since October last year.
After months of renovations, the grade two-listed gates were put back in place in time for Walking Day.
But final stages of work have been continuing.
And this morning, Tuesday, the gates were lifted out by a crane section by section in order for further repairs to be carried out by Croft-based Ken Harrop Crane Hire.
Warrington Guardian photographer Dave Gillespie was on scene to capture the moment.
