IF you pop into Winsford on Sunday you may be surprised to find a bunch of flowers left on a park bench as a free gift.

The lonely bouquet will have a 'take me' tag attached saying: 'I'm a lonely bouquet placed here just for you, I hope to put a smile on your face and make you feel good.

'Please take me home and give me a drink or give me to a friend or whoever you may think'.

Winsford florist Beckie Humphreys will be placing small bouquets around the town and putting pictures on Facebook as clues to help people discover them.

Anyone who finds the flowers is simply asked to post a picture on her Facebook page to show who is enjoying them.

The lonely bouquet day is being celebrated across the country on Sunday.

"I thought it was lovely to bring a bit of happiness to someone," said mum Beckie, 33, who has a two-year-old son Sebastian. "I'm going to set off at around 10am and place bouquets in recognisable locations.

"The flowers, Sweet William, will have seed bombs so people can plant them and carry on growing them. I can't wait to see what response I get. If people enjoy it I will go out again and leave some more in the afternoon."

The idea of the leaving bouquets for strangers as a random act of kindness originated seven years ago in Belgium, when a local florist begun leaving flowers for people on the streets.

Since then flowers have been scattered at bus stops, supermarket shelves and parks.

Warming stories have been shared by those who have found the bouquets and given them to loved ones.

Beckie, a fully trained florist for more than 16 years started her own business, Michaelmas Daisy Florist, at home, four months ago.

"I've worked in florist shops since I left school," said Beckie. "I now work part-time for a flower wholesalers in Stoke. We import flowers from all over the world. I like having a secure job but now I'm trying to work for myself too, doing a bit of both."

Beckie prepares bouquets using flowers delivered fresh daily for gifts, anniversaries and special occasions and also provides corporate displays for businesses and funeral arrangements.

"I'm also planning my own wedding and doing my own flowers," added Beckie, who is getting married next year in Portmeirion in Gwynedd. "We were going to get married abroad but decided instead to choose this beautiful Italian town in Wales."
