A FUN-FILLED party is being held to celebrate the first birthday of Winsford Town Park - and it promises to be a scorcher!

Temperatures are expected to soar to 27 degrees on Saturday as music, entertainment and lots of activities and stalls will create a carnival atmosphere from 11am to 4pm.

“We’re calling it ‘party in the park’,” said John Malam, chairman of Friends of Winsford Town Park. “And like all birthday parties, there will be a cake to cut!”

The park was transformed into an multi-activity outdoor attraction after a £900,000 makeover last year.

Jo Fawcett, a horticulturalist, provided expert advice on the park's colourful and thoughtful planting layout.

The development was a joint project between Cheshire West and Chester Council and Winsford Town Council, which owns the park.

“We’d like people to come along and enjoy being in this superb open space right in the heart of Winsford," said John.

"It’s a park for all ages to enjoy and we’ll be having a few attractions that should appeal to everyone."

Various stalls will be run by local groups including the Salt Sisters, the town's new Women's Institute.

Lion Saltworks Trust will demonstrate how to make table salt from brine evaporation.

Bootcamp keep fit sessions will be led by DW Fitness and Fancy Feet theatrical dance group will stage a street dance performance with a surprise.

Children can colour mini bird boxes and take them home.

A bouncy castle, face painting, funfair ride, children’s colouring and stencilling activities will also be available.
