THE headteacher of Queen's Park High School in Chester has spoken out following the serious incident on Thursday, June 20, when one of the school's 14-year-old pupils was stabbed in Handbridge.

The 14-year-old boy was transferred to Alder Hey Hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable, after he was stabbed on the Handbridge road, near the Old Dee Bridge.

Police were called to the incident at 3.06pm and a 15-year-old was arrested nearby on suspicion of section 18 assault. He is currently in police custody.

Headteacher of Queen's Park High School, Lyndsay Watterson said: “A serious incident took place after school yesterday [Thursday] involving two of our students.

"The matter is being dealt with by the police and our thoughts are with our pupil who was injured and his family.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is of paramount importance to us and we are doing everything we can to support our pupils and the community both now and in the future.

"Our priority is to ensure that all those affected are offered the support they need.”
