WORK Zones across the borough are supporting people into work by introducing them to potential employers.

Cheshire West and Chester Council's Work Zones in Winsford and Northwich are among those lending a hand for National Employability Day.

National Employability Day falls on Friday, June 28, with events organised to coincide.

  • Winsford: Residents in search of employment or work experience will be able to meet with more than 15 employers who will be at a Job Fair at Wyvern House Public Services Hub, Winsford, on June 28, 10am to noon.

  • Northwich: A ‘Women in Industry’ event is at Northwich Work Zone in Station Buildings on 28 June from 10am to noon.

Employers from construction companies will give advice about jobs in construction.

There will also be information about working as a fork lift truck driver and becoming a police officer.

Further events take place in Ellesmere Port and Chester.

Cllr Richard Beacham, cabinet member for housing, regeneration and growth at CWAC, said: “The council is focused on supporting people in our borough so that they can find employment and succeed in the workplace.

“The employment support events we are running to coincide with National Employability Day will be a fantastic opportunity for residents to learn more about their career options and to meet potential employers.

"It is also a chance for companies to meet potential employees too.”

Last year, National Employability Day saw more than 200 centres taking part in the day nationwide, with activities including jobs fairs and stakeholder visits, conferences, report launches and employability day tea parties.

Some organisations welcomed hundreds of visitors and many signed up more jobseekers as a result.
