A DAREDEVIL beauty queen leapt out of a plane in a sky dive to save lives.

Beth Walker, from Barnton, Miss Teen Galaxy for Northwich, raised £2,350 for The Christie Hospital from various events after winning her first title.

"I went in with zero experience and came out of it with so many amazing qualities and friendships," said Beth, 17.

It was the first time she had ever entered a pageant show and she was surprised and thrilled to achieve success in a nationwide contest.

"Being placed in the top 16 in the whole of the UK was just the icing on the cake from this amazing experience," she said.

The South Cheshire College beauty therapy student staged a race night and climbed 798 steps up the Beetham Tower in Manchester to help fund life changing and life saving work to support cancer patients.

She donated gifts to children and staff at Leighton Hospital, helped to sell poppies, assisted at a Round Table bonfire, supported a Macmillan Cancer fundraising event and was featured in a charity calendar.

Now a Miss Teen Cheshire Galaxy finalist, she has embarked on another year of challenges for The Christie, the largest cancer centre in Europe which treats 40,000 people a year.

"I did my Christie skydive which was unreal and I raised just over £400 to kick start my year," said Beth, who has various other events in the pipeline including a masquerade ball at Vale Royal Abbey Golf Course on October 12.

"My studies are going well. I have just completed my college course so I will begin to work more now I don't have to juggle between college and work."

Career wise she has not yet made up her mind.

"I'm still learning what I'm good and not so good at, just taking opportunities as and when they're thrown at me," said Beth. "I'm going to take as many different courses so I can leave with different areas of knowledge and different qualifications.

"I'm lucky enough to know a good amount of Spanish and enjoy learning the language.

"I love the idea of travelling the world and seeing different places."

Beth is considering becoming an air hostess when she completes her studies.

Organising events and working in the community has left a lasting impression.

"The whole experience has taught me so many things," she said. "The one that's really impacted me is to be yourself. There's so much pressure in this generation to look a certain way and a lot of this is influenced by social media. So just be yourself because who you are is an amazing thing.

"We are all unique, you don't have to try and be somebody else, just be you!

"Being comfortable in your own skin and being yourself are two things which so many pageant girls learn from the whole experience."
