KNUTSFORD’S Greenwood Retail has toasted its 1,000th sales event.

The specialist sales promotion company’s landmark event took place at independent bed retailer Jones and Tomlin.

Bernard Eaton, company founder and managing director, said: “When I launched Greenwood Retail in 2002 I wanted to create the most powerful and successful sales promotions for independent retailers.

“Now, almost 18 years on, we are delighted to have reached this substantial milestone and to have worked alongside so many talented people.

“It is fitting and most appropriate that our 1,000th event should happen while working for such a fine company as Jones and Tomlin.”

Bernard already had a rich history in retail when he was inspired by headline-grabbing American sales.

After researching the industry and working with consultants from the US and UK, he devised his own technique tailored especially for the British retail market.

He said: “We only work with quality retailers, and all Greenwood sales events are designed to send a positive message about the reasons for the sale.

“For example, the store might be clearing stock to undertake a huge refurbishment or update their product offer.

“Even a closing down sale should be marketed in a way that clearly communicates the owner’s good reasons – for example selling up so they can retire or change career. Here’s to the next 1,000 sales events.”
