A SCHOOL is hoping to build a new main entrance with an emphasis on security and accessibility.

Middlewich High School has submitted a planning application to Cheshire East and a decision is expected to be made on July 30.

The application was submitted after a number of deficiencies with the current entrance were identified.

These include a lack of access for wheelchair users to reception and offices and inadequate security to meet safeguarding requirements.

The applicant, in a planning statement, said: “Middlewich High School is committed to ensuring that the facilities it provides and uses afford its pupils, parents, visitors and employees the opportunity to maximise their individual abilities and enjoy safe and, wherever possible, independent participation.

“The replacement link block will be more energy efficient than the existing structure which is poorly insulated with extensive single glazing.

“The proposed development will not affect existing parking arrangements or pedestrian access.”

The existing glazed link block will be demolished.
