OAKMERE hope back-to-back wins against Chester Boughton Hall, in different competitions, can kick-start their campaign in the Cheshire Women’s League.

The Northwich club put behind them a disappointing 22-run defeat against newcomers Porthill Park on the opening day when they took maximum points from a Division One fixture on Sunday.

A career-high innings of 61 from Hailey Coutts was a highlight when they posted 144 all out at Overdale Lane.

Their bowling attack then demonstrated its considerable strength by knocking over the visitors for 83 with Dawn Prestidge (2-10), Jane Tarpey (2-11) and Leah Holland (2-16) all making an impression.

Oakmere had eased to a nine-wicket win when they successfully chased 84 to beat the same opponents in a T20 Western Division opener last Thursday.

Tarpey took 2-6, and Kate Skelhorn (2-14) provided support, as hosts Chester limped to 83-8.

Rachel Warrenger (28ret) and Coutts (23) played their part as the visitors reached their target with seven overs to spare.
